Aussie Cline Signs...Again!

Torrisholme Cricket Club are delighted to announce the exciting news that Australian paceman Matthew Cline will be joining the club once again for the 2023 season as our overseas amateur.

Matt, now 25, had a fantastic season for us last year, taking 38 wickets at an average of 20.34. He also scored important runs with the bat, a 65 at Penwortham CC, from just 30 balls being the highlight. He is much-loved around the club and was voted our 1st XI player of the year in 2022. Everyone at the club are delighted that he has agreed to come and spend the 2023 summer with us once again. 

Matt is a medium/fast right-hand bowler who plays for Numurkah Youth Cricket Club based in Victoria (140 miles north of Melbourne). Numurkah’s season is coming to a close and Matt has continued to take wickets out in Australia, averaging of 18.70. Cliney is set to play in the end of season Semi-Final tomorrow v Katandra CC, with a place in the Grand Final at stake.

Matt said; “I’m so stoked to come back over to Torrisholme for the season. Last year was such an unbelievable year for me, the way that everyone at Torrisholme CC treated me, I couldn’t not come back my home away from home! With the appointment of Jacko as coach and other appointments, I think that the club is heading in the right direction to give us the best shot in the Palace Shield Prem”

Winter Nets 2025

Match Ball Sponsorship 2024

We are once again looking for match ball sponsors for the forthcoming 2024 season. Become a Match Ball Sponsor for just £25.00 per game and support our club. Last season we spent over £1,700 on match balls across our senior sides and any sponsorship we can get in goes a long way to covering this cost. Balls are priced at £25.00 per game and sponsors will get coverage on the day of their specific match where they will feature on the club’s social media feeds and also on our club sponsor boards every week. Sponsors can include local businesses as well as families and individuals. All players are encouraged to make their best effort to get at least one match ball sponsor each. We cannot stress to our supporters enough how important fundraising like this is. If you would like to sponsor a match ball for the coming season you can do so by clicking HERE choosing from the remaining 1st XI and 2nd XI fixtures and making your payment. Junior Presentation Evening

The 2023 Junior Presentation Night was very well attended and we were blessed with a lovely night. The event started with the inauguration of a handsome bell and plaque in memory of much missed club umpire Malcolm Porter , his son Ashley and family were present to ring the bell in Malc's memory and a moving moment was witnessed by well over a hundred players, parents and coaches. Once again Aussie overseas Matt Cline was guest of honour, Matt is returning to Australia after the season and, unfortunately, he doesn't plan to return next year. He has become a friend to many at the club as well as being a wonderful player, we all wish him the very best for his future life and cricket back down under. Virtually all the prize winners were present at the event and the league winning Under 11 Hardball squad received their trophy from Matt. The Junior Clubman of the Year, or Lockwood Trophy as it is known, was once again awarded to long serving coach and player Sean McGuigan . Thanks to all who supported the junior section through another busy Summer, to groundsman Eddy Bayton for preparing all those wickets and to the bar team who kept us 'hydrated' through the season. Spring Cricket Camp

Torrisholme Cricket Club are excited to announce we will be running a two day cricket camp during May half term on both Tuesday 30th May and Wednesday 31st May at the club. The days will consist of coaching from first team captain Joseph Wills, first team T20 captain Jack Heap and our Australian Overseas Amateur Matt Cline. On both days the sessions will run from 10am-4pm. You will need to provide your child with a packed lunch each day . The sessions are open to boys and girls aged 8-16. There will be groups playing both softball and hardball cricket with opportunity to work with specialist batter Joseph, spin bowler Jack and pace bowler Matt. Places are limited (20 per day) so please don’t miss out on this great opportunity to improve your cricket skills. For this amazing experience the cost is just £30 per person, per day, with profits going towards club funds. Parents/Guardians are welcome to watch the sessions, but children can be left as supervised by DBS staff. In the event of bad weather, indoor sessions will be planned. Bookings are now open.
